HOW IT WORKS: Lutein is a nutritionally important carotenoid that occurs naturally in brightly colored vegetables, such as spinach and kale. Like many carotenoids, Lutein helps to protect the body from the effects of free-radicals. Lutein is especially important in regards to eye health as it is stored within the lens, as well as in the retina where it promotes the integrity and density of the macular pigment. Clinical trials have shown that supplementation with FloraGLO(R) Lutein helps to maintain healthy macular Lutein concentration, where it functions to fortify the eye against free radicals produced by light and oxygen.
